Operations
Our operations encompass a number of integrated pillars – from large-scale farm aggregations in Western Australia, through to our endeavours in protein, grain and carbon.
PenAgri Farms
PenAgri owns two large-scale farm aggregations totalling over 108,000 hectares, representing one of the largest mixed-cropping and livestock landholdings in Western Australia.
In the Merredin region of WA’s eastern wheatbelt, PenAgri owns a portfolio of farms, across six properties (with an additional property located near Mullewa), totalling over 88,500 hectares and forming one of the largest farm aggregations in WA. The farms are currently leased to a mixed-cropping and livestock operation.
In the Mingenew region of WA’s Mid West, PenAgri owns and operates a five property farm aggregation – located 80 km from Geraldton, 3.5 hours north of Perth. Our holding totals over 19,500 hectares and is operated by PenAgri for grain production, sheep husbandry and carbon sequestration.
The focus of PenAgri’s livestock management is to grow sheep meat and develop branded consumer products for delivery to domestic and export markets. With 11,000 breeding ewes across cleanskin and Merino breeds, our Mid West farm operations will host a base flock of 13,000 breeding ewes capable of birthing 19,500 lambs per year.
PenAgri farms has a strong focus on animal welfare with experienced livestock handlers, large scale water access and strong perennial grasses to support the growth of our flock. PenAgri will not supply the live export trade.
PenAgri Protein Ingredients
PenAgri is constructing Australia’s first industrial scale textured plant protein facility to supply local and Asian markets.
The facility will use pulses (predominantly chickpeas and faba beans) sourced in Western Australia from our own farms and external grain producers.
PenAgri’s protein facility is located in the Muchea Industrial Park, leveraging the road and rail transport infrastructure just outside Perth, that delivers efficient container port access.
Partnering with renowned companies, such as Buhler Technologies (Switzerland) and Hosokawa (Germany), PenAgri ensures best-in-class technology, equipment and process. Furthermore, consumer insights and requirements in the rapidly growing alternative protein food industry are achieved through collaboration with manufacturers in Asia and Europe.
PenAgri Grains
PenAgri Grains is an accumulator and merchandiser of grains and pulses from the Western Australian market.
After meeting our own internal demand, we have the capacity to supply to other domestic and export grain/pulse processors.
As part of the PenAgri Grains initiative, we are partnering with domestic and export consumers of Western Australian grains and pulses (domestic and export) who wish to access grain directly from farmers and manage their own supply chain.
Carbon Sequestration
PenAgri’s goal is to become a leading producer of Australian carbon credits from our integrated farming operations, as well as a preferred supplier of credits to carbon emitters.
PenAgri produces carbon credits by growing perennial grasses, as well as through the revegetation of non-arable land on the farmland that we own and operate.
In addition to our operations, we have existing partnerships to collaborate, co-invest or co-manage farm assets that are suitable to be registered as projects, generating ACCUs for the benefit of large scale carbon emitters.
